Don’t think for one second that it is “OK” to measure from R wave peak to R wave peak! It is NOT – and anyone who tries to convince you of that should not be trusted with your ECG education. Right is still right and wrong is still wrong. “Good enough” is NEVER good enough!
I feel sorry for those wanting to learn ECG interpretation that fall prey to the “Be an ECG Expert in 3 Days!” or the “All You’ll Ever Need to Know About EKGs” books. No one will EVER be an ECG expert in 3 days and any book that truly contains “all you’ll need to know” about ECG interpretation will be about 800 – 900 pages – not a 110 page book.
Even the term “EKG” has been archaic for years in the English language literature. Any author who still uses the term these days is far behind in the latest knowledge and advances in electrocardiography.
